GOAL (Goal Oriented Alternative Learning)

Service Description

Youth development workers and school district teachers provide supported and individualized learning environment for at-risk or vulnerable youth in the Anmore, Belcarra, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, and Port Moody area. Program engages youth to help them accomplish their goals, and includes academic curriculum, life skills training, recreational activities, and work experience. Also supports youth to connect with mental health and community supports. Program runs year-round, including school holiday times. Serves youth ages 14 to 18. Referral is through Coquitlam School District or a probation officer. Criteria for admission include youth who have challenges with school attendance, mental health, substance misuse, peer relationsps, and conduct in the community. Offered in partnership with PLEA Community Services and Coquitlam School District. Receives funding from Ministry of Children and Family Development.
