Health Career Access Program (HCAP)

Provides a path for applicants with no health care experience to get hired and receive paid employer sponsored health care assistant training. There are two training pathways: applicants can train as health care assistants or become mental health and addictions workers. Through the program, the Province will pay for applicants' post-secondary education and provide a weekly stipend. The program is committed to inclusive hiring practices and provides equal opportunities for equity-seeking groups, including women, Indigenous peoples, persons with disabilities, members of visible minorities and 2SLGBTQIA+ applicants.

Following submission of a statement of interest, name and contact information will be shared with employers recruiting in participants’ preferred region or community. If an offer of employment is received and accepted, paid work and training will begin. Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. See website for full list of required qualifications. Program agents are available from 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
