Service Description

Provides leadership and expertise to develop programs and policies that promote community environmental health, to prevent disease, and protect people from harm from environmental stressors. Works collaboratively with various partners to identify and manage environmental health risks in the areas of drinking water, food safety, on-site sewerage, industrial camps, personal services establishments, swimming pools, air quality, radon, zoonotics, and other physical, chemical or biological environmental health hazards; Health Authorities deliver these services in communities throughout BC. Also provides updates to legislation and policy guidance to health authorities who have the primary responsibility for program and service delivery, including food safety, personal service establishment and industrial camp inspections, drinking water system permitting, and on-site sewerage filing.
