Healthy Indoor Environments Program

The free Radon Detector Library Lending Program allows people concerned about radon in their homes to borrow a radon testing kit from their local library for up to four weeks. Available at the Coquitlam Public Library, Kootenay Region Libraries, North Shore and Sunshine Coast Libraries, Okanagan Region Libraries, and Thompson-Nicola Region Libraries. Active library membership required. Educates the public about radon, a radioactive, invisible, odourless gas that accumulates in buildings; exposure to high levels of radon in indoor air causes an increased risk of developing lung cancer. Also involved in community-based testing projects and law reform on radon.
