Service Description

Provides basic dental, vision, and hearing care supplements to children up to 19 years of age who are from low-income and modest-income families that are not in receipt of income assistance, disability assistance, or hardship assistance. Children are eligible for $2000 per two years of basic dental services including dental exams, x-rays, fillings, cleanings, and extractions; additional acommodation may be available for emergency pain relief. Children are eligible for prescription eyeglass lenses and frames once in a 12 month period; does not cover orthodontic treatment ot contact lenses. Eligible hearing instruments include hearing aids, bone anchored hearing aids, cochlear implants, repairs and related items; coverage is provided for the least expensive option based on an assessment. Families qualify for this program if they are receiving full or partial Medical Services Plan (MSP) premium assistance. Application for this program is done by showing child's CareCard or BC Services Card upon arrival at the dental or optical office, and requesting confirmation of coverage.
