Lawyers provide free legal advice and/or representation for the following: judicial review applications where a Supreme Court judge reviews a Residential Tenancy Branch (RTB) decision for a serious error or unfairness; enforcement of monetary orders through Small Claims Court; and some rental disputes that fall outside of the Residential Tenancy Act. Legal advocates can provide free legal representation at RTB dispute resolution hearings for tenants experiencing issues that TRAC considers serious, urgent or systemic.
