Indian Residential Schools Resolution Health Support Program (IRSRHSP) - Northern Region

Provides cultural and emotional support, and mental health counselling services to survivors of Indian Residential Schools and the families of former students. Supports include access to Elders, Knowledge Holders, traditional healers, and ceremonies. A treatment plan estimating duration and cost of counselling must be submitted for prior approval by a counsellor registered with Indigenous Services Canada before treatment begins. All survivors are eligible, regardless of Indigenous status or place of residence within Canada. Also offers health supports services to individuals affected by the trauma associated with their attendance at a Federal Indian Day School, as well as to survivors, family members, and those affected by the issue of missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls. Assistance with transportation may be offered when mental health counselling and cultural support services are not locally available. Serves the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and Nunavut.
