Indigenous Health Liaisons

Service Description

Offers practical support in accessing health care services to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit patients living in Fraser Health. Serves as a communication liaison between the patient, family, community, and health care providers. Goal is to improve access and ensure the Indigenous patient's health care experience is culturally safe, inclusive, and appropriate. Provides non-clinical services and is an adjunct to health care staff. Aims to ensure health care staff understand the unique needs of the Indigenous patient, and the Indigenous patient understands the hospital cultural/processes. Accepts self-referrals, as well as referrals from family members, friends, and health professionals. Available Monday to Friday from 8:30 am 4:30 pm.
