Service Description

Provides safe, secure, temporary shelter and support for self-identified women with or without children, who are fleeing violent relationships or who are at risk of abuse, threats, or violence. Accepts male children up to age 18. Accepts refugees and refugee claimants, and women from out of the province. Length of stay is 30 days. Medium-barrier house; no curfew and is goal-oriented. Gives women a safe and supportive living environment with access to daily living requirements such as clothing, toiletries, cleaning supplies, and staple groceries to prepare their own meals. Also provides bus tickets for transportation, accompaniment, and advocacy support, as well as assists clients in accessing financial assistance, legal aid, and affordable housing. Offers resource information to enable women to explore their options and define their goals, as well as assist with the development of safety plans. Personal identification (ID) is not required. Not wheelchair accessible. Cannot accommodate pets, but will arrange for temporary accommodation with a community partner. House is located in the South Surrey community; available on a first-come, first-served basis. Also provides shelter to women who are in crisis and who are at risk of or experiencing homelessness.
