Legal Advocacy

Provides free legal advice, advocacy, support, and referral services to women in the Downtown Eastside. Information, support, and assistance is provided for issues of family law, Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD), minor criminal law issues (including victims of crime), Aboriginal law, police complaints, ombudsperson complaints, small claims, and Freedom of Information requests. Information, advice, and full representation services are provided by a lawyer and are available on a limited basis in the areas of welfare, disability, Canada Pension Plan (CPP), Employment Insurance, Worksafe (WCB), tenancy, Crime Victim Assistance Program appeals, and human rights.
