Service Description

Provides legal consultations to people age 55 and older, as well as third parties of any age if the older adult has barriers that make it difficult to speak on their own behalf. Services are for older adults unable to access legal help elsewhere due to low income or other barriers. Legal advocacy provides assistance with residential tenancy issues, benefits, pensions and debt issues. Legal issues covered include financial exploitation, powers of attorney, representation agreements, guardianship/capacity, institutional care, and discrimination etc. First consultation does not require financial means test. To book a consultaton with a lawyer, call the Seniors Abuse and Information Line (8 am to 8 pm weekdays and 10 am to 5:30 pm weekends, except holidays). Funded by the Law Foundation of BC.
