Life Skills Program

Service Description

Provides a drop-in day service for 10 to 12 adults with developmental disabilities. Offers life skills-based activities such as cooking classes, gardening, and budgeting; information on rights; recreational activities such as arts and crafts, fishing, swimming, bocce, and raquet sports; and social activities such as restaurant meals, shopping trips to Kamloops, bowling, hockey games, outdoor music nights, and holiday celebrations. Activities occur from 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday, with occasional evenings and weekends in lieu of day programming for special events. Open to adults with developmental disabilities who do not require regular staff support to participate. Referral is required from Community Living BC (CLBC). Serves those who live in North Thompson area (Avola, Barriere, Birch Island, Blackpool, Blue River, Clearwater, Darfield, Little Fort, Louis Creek, McLure, and Vavenby). Office hours are 8:30 am to 12 noon and 1 pm to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
