Lifeguard App

Provided by: Provincial Health Services Authority (PHSA)

Service Description

Free app that can link drug users to emergency responders if an overdose occurs. The app acts as a digital check-in; after the user activates the app, they are required to respond at certain time intervals in order to show they are okay. After 75 seconds without response, a text-to-voice call goes to 9-1-1, alerting emergency medical dispatchers of a potential overdose. App is anonymous, running off GPS location information, but users can choose to enter name or apartment number in case that information might be needed by emergency responders. Developed in partnership with regional health authorities and Lifeguard Digital Health.
