24-hour emergency shelter for abused women, including trans women, age 18 and over with or without children. Accepts women fleeing violence or abuse of any kind. Accepts male children age 19 and under. In-house supportive counselling is available for children in the shelter, and they may also attend the PEACE (Prevention, Education, Advocacy, Counselling, Empowerment) Program at the society office by appointment. Offers 24-hour in-house and crisis line support. Wheelchair accessible. A limited number of rooms allow pets. Does not provide pet care, and dogs must be with the client at all times or in a kennel in the room. Serves Courtenay, Comox, Cumberland, and rural areas, including Denman Island and Hornby Island.
