Service Description

Provincial mental health facility provides assessment, residential and non-residential treatment, and outreach services for adolescents ages 12 to 17 diagnosed with significant psychiatric and behavioural difficulties. Also serves youth found not criminally responsible by reason of a mental disorder or unfit to stand trial. Educational and recreational services are provided to youth in residential care. The Response Program assists communities in providing care for youth through the development of a community care plan and subsequent consultation and respite. Referrals must be routed through local child and youth mental health offices. Also provides training, supervision, and support to leaders of Connect Parent Groups, which offer attachment-based parenting training for parents of youth with behaviour problems.
