Service Description

Provides free support and education programs to individuals and their families who are dealing with schizophrenia or related psychiatric disorders, including bipolar disorder, major depression, and psychosis. Provides advocacy, information, and referral for people experiencing mental illness. The Peer Support Program provides confidential, one-on-one mentoring through shared experience of mental illness and recovery for one hour a week over 12 weeks. The Recovery and Hope Support Group provides a place for people in recovery from schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, psychosis, other mental health conditions, and/or substance use issues to share stories and wellness strategies; meets from 2 pm to 3:30 pm Wednesdays. WRAP (Wellness Recovery Action Plan) provides six to eight workshop sessions for people who have mental health difficulties to construct an individualized plan for maintaining wellness. For adult registrants, the individual seeking to enter the program must be the one to contact for registration. The Family Respite Program offers short-term, in-home respite services for the family and caregivers of people with serious or persistent mental health issues; costs for service are covered by the society, up to a fixed maximum per year per family. Services may be available in languages other than English. Serves Victoria, Central Saanich, Colwood, Langford, and Salt Spring Island. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
