Métis Family Connections - Early Years

Provided by: Metis Nation BC (MNBC)

Service Description

Helps families with Métis children from birth to eight years of age build a network of support that provides children with opportunities for early learning and childhood development. Métis Family Connections Navigators assist families to access programs and services that are available in their region that connect them to community and culture. The program provides opportunities for families and children to learn more about Métis identity and the Métis Nation; to be up to date on what early years services are available how to access them; to be connected to other Métis families; to have support for children through each stage of their development; to attend Métis family gathering events; and to receive Métis cultural resources. Enrollment form is available online.

MNBC citizens whose child is enrolled in the Métis Family Connections Program and who have already applied to the Affordable Child Care Benefit program qualify for the Métis Child Care Benefit Program which offers families with Métis children from birth to age 12 years a monthly benefit to support parents with their Licensed or Registered License-Not-Required childcare and Licensed Preschool fees. Through the program, families can access additional funding, bridging the connection to the provincial Affordable Child Care Benefit. Families can connect with their Métis Family Connections Navigator directly to receive a copy of the Métis Child Care Benefit Application Form. For support or additional information, email metisearlyyears@mnbc.ca. Offered by the Métis Child Care Navigation and Support Program.
