Neighbourhood Helpers Project - Downtown Eastside

Service Description

Offers outreach services for older adults age 50 and up living in the Downtown Eastside, as well as adults living on disability ages 45 and older. Services include coffee houses, one-to-one peer counselling, community kitchens, social visits, hospital visits, assistance with appointments, and small task support. Engages in community development projects designed to improve the quality of life for residents of Downtown Eastside hotels or those living in single room accommodation (SRA), with a particular focus on building social support networks for senior citizens. Stresses community development and hosts events regarding local issues, provides volunteer training, and collaborates with other agencies for the well-being of seniors.
