Northeast Urgent and Primary Care Centre (UPCC)

Service Description

Provides health care for individuals with non-life-threatening conditions who need to see a health care provider within 12 to 24 hours but do not require an emergency department. Provides basic in-office care services for conditions such as sprains and simple fractures, minor cuts requiring stitches, minor burns; rapid access to mental health and substance use crisis intervention services; and assessment and treatment for minor illnesses. Staffed by family doctors, nurse practioners, registered nurses, dietitians, social workers and counsellors; Indigenous Elder support also available on referral. Works with the Vancouver Division of Family Practice to attach patients who do not have a family doctor to a regular primary care provider in the community. The centre will also provide care for unattached patients while working on connecting patients to other local practices for their ongoing primary care. Open year-round, including statutory holidays; hours are 8 am to 10 pm Monday to Saturday, and 9 am to 5 pm Sundays and holidays. Location is accessible. Serves residents and visitors of the residents in the neighbourhoods of Hastings Sunrise, Renfrew Collingwood, and Cedar Cottage.
