Operational Stress Injury Social Support (OSISS)

Service Description

Provides peer support to Canadian Forces personnel, veterans, and their families. Support is provided by current or former members or family members who know first-hand the lived experience of operational stress injuries (persistent psychological difficulty resulting from operational duties performed while serving) and the possible impacts. Coordinators reach out to help participants re-establish social connection by listening and referring to the appropriate resources when needed. Coordinators do travel to some areas in BC and the Yukon, and provide support via telephone and email to other areas. Coordinators can be reached by completing an online contact form, contact will be made within one to two days. Partnership between Department of National Defence and Veterans Affairs Canada.
