Outlook Alternate Education Program

Service Description

Assists youth in Burnaby who are disconnected from local mainstream or alternate programs in the public school system. Educational program is curriculum-based and youth receive credit towards academic courses for participation in component of the program. Offers required courses for Grades 8 to 12, as well as the opportunity to write provincial exams. Teachers and Outlook staff create specialized educational plans to help youth achieve high school diploma or equivalent. Summer program includes weekly group outings and individual appointments to encourage youth to participate in the community and enjoy recreational and social activities. Partnered with Kids Up Front to enhance cultural activities. Youth are enrolled in the program for four to six months with extensions possible based on individual needs. In partnership with MCFD and the Burnaby School District.
