Peer Assisted Care Team (PACT)

Service Description

Mobile, community-led team that offers culturally-safe support by phone and in-person to New Westminster residents ages 13 and up experiencing a mental health and/or substance use crisis. Individuals may be in distress due to thoughts of self-harm or suicide; substance use; fear, anxiety, or depression; social isolation and loneliness; family members experiencing challenges; or other mental health-related emergencies. The team is comprised of a mental health worker and peer support worker and offers crisis counselling and de-escalation; connection to community resources; advocacy and accompaniment to emergency departments, police stations, or community organizations; and short-term follow-up care. Serves New Westminster. Hours of operation are 7 am to 11:30 pm, seven days a week.
