Service Description

Works toward giving victims of crime an effective voice in the criminal justice system by helping them and their families understand their role in the criminal justice system and the services available to support them; ensuring that the perspectives of victims will be fully considered when relevant federal laws and policies are developed; and increasing awareness both within Canada and internationally about the needs of victims of crime and effective approaches to respond to those needs. Also administers an online 'Victim Services Directory' listing resources across Canada, which is available to victims, family members, and service providers (at www.victimservices.justice.gc.ca).
