Provincial Outreach Program for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (POPDHH)

Collaborates with school districts, independent schools and First Nations programs to support Deaf and Hard of Hearing students across BC. Provides observational and standardized assessments, consultation, program development support, inclusion and transition support, student events, professional development and mentorship for educators, eLearning and resources. The BC Provincial School for the Deaf uses American Sign Language as the language of instruction for students in Kindergarten to Grade 12. for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. In addition, the Provincial Oral Program offers a secondary school option for students who are deaf or hard of hearing and prefer auditory/oral communication; students are offered speech support and encouraged to make maximum use of their residual hearing. Operated by the Burnaby School Board. Also offers online directory of organizations and services for the deaf community in BC.
