Service Description

The PSCTC Counselling Clinic offers free counselling sessions to adults, students, and children over the age of 10 from September to April. Sessions offer support with stress-management, anxiety, depression, school, and relationship issues, and are offered in person and via videoconference. Counselling provided by supervised master's and doctoral students. Telephone intake required, and there may be a waitlist. The PSCTC Assessment Clinics offer psycho-educational assessments and/or consultation for children, youth, and adult students (Grade 12 to post-secondary) who have questions about their cognitive, academic, social-emotional, or behavioural strengths and weaknesses, in order to provide diagnoses and/or to develop strategies to meet their individual learning needs. Young clients are referred by parents, community agencies, or schools, while adult client referrals are from self or educational institution. Fees are charged, and there may be a waitlist. The PSCTC Hotline answers UBC faculty and school professional enquiries about tests and assessment procedures, as well as research and professional literature. Also maintains an up-to-date Test Library of standardized tests, assessment instruments, reference materials and other resources. Office hours vary; check website or contact centre.
