RentSmart Tenancy Education

Provided by: RentSmart Education and Support Society

Service Description

Offers free courses including the RentSmart Certificate course which empowers tenants to understand their rights and responsibilities; communicate effectively with neighbours and roommates; budget to maintain their housing; and to understand how to look after their home. The certificate acts as a third-party unbiased reference, and lets landlords know that graduates have learned to be good tenants. This course is designed to teach important life skills to individuals, build tenancy knowledge, and help to increase confidence while providing tools to prepare for and maintain stable housing. Also offered as RentSmart Certificate Online (RSCO), a self-paced online course that offers a combination of videos, quizzes and interactive reading. Rent Smart Foundations is an interactive live course for service and housing providers who work with vulnerable individuals. Builds skills and knowledge of tenant rights and responsibilities, and improves housing stability. The RentSmart Educator program certifies individuals, community organizations, and nonprofits to deliver Rent Smart courses to unique populations and community members. Registration for these courses is through the Events page on the agency website. Courses are offered province-wide.
