Restitution Program

Service Description

Provides information and assistance in cases where a criminal court judge has ordered an offender to pay restitution to a victim who has experienced financial loss or damage, including property damage, as a result of a crime. Assists victims who have unpaid restitution orders, encourages offenders to comply with restitution orders, and facilitates payments from offenders to victims. Also answers inquiries about restitution orders, provides referrals to resources, and gives general information about civil court processes (not legal advice). Liaises with probation officers, parole officers, victim service workers, and other service providers. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.

One can apply for the restitution program if there is an unpaid restitution order, the restitution order is part of an adult sentence and the restitution order is issued by a criminal court in BC.
