Service Description

Responsible for road safety in BC, working in partnership with law enforcement agencies, service providers, professional organizations, government agencies, non-governmental organizations, and community groups. The Superintendent delegates service delivery and decision-making powers to ministry staff and agencies such as ICBC. Services include Driver Medical Fitness, the Driver Improvement Program, the Vehicle Impoundment Program, the Responsible Driver Program (remedial educational program for drivers who have received alcohol- or drug-related prohibitions), and the Ignition Interlock Program. Also provides administrative review options for drivers who have received sanctions under the Motor Vehicle Act, such as drinking and driving prohibitions. Individuals who are concerned about somebody else's fitness for driving can complain to this office. Phone hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
