Senior Peer Counselling Program

Trained senior volunteers offer free, confidential, one-on-one counselling to guide and support their peers through difficult situations such as new living arrangements, relationship concerns, reduced income, bereavement, and anxiety or depression. Sessions can take place at the office, client's home, or other location. Referrals are accepted from individuals or health care providers, and screened for appropriateness for the service. Clients are seen for up to six months, after which time, referrals can be made to other services. Volunteers complete a 44-hour training and supervised practicum. Serves Richmond.
