Service Description

Promotes health and wellness, helps build supportive social relationships, and creates cross-cultural understanding through a variety of free organized activities and volunteer-based services for seniors and older adults ages 55 and up. Also offers a hot lunch at 12 noon on Tuesdays available on a drop-in basis; nominal fee is charged. The Caregivers Connect program supports caregivers of elderly family members or friends through one-to-one emotional support, information and referral, monthly educational workshops on caregiver topics, weekly online support group, wellness activities, and weekly online coffee club for caregivers and seniors being cared for. Some activities require pre-registration. Funded as a Family and Friends Caregiver Support Program by United Way BC (UWBC) Healthy Aging Program. The Art Box Program provides free art supplies to seniors and bi-weekly virtual workshops. The Digital Literacy Program provides one-to-one tutoring and group workshops to seniors who are interested in improving their computer and technology skills; funded as an Active Aging Plus program by United Way BC (UWBC) Healthy Aging Program. Mount Pleasant Men's Shed offers an in-person group for older men. Also offers walking clubs, line dancing in the park, and other gentle physical health activities.
