Service Description

Provides accessible and inclusive senior-driven programs and services for seniors in southeast Vancouver to support active participation in the community and independence. The first floor of the neighbourhood house is dedicated to seniors programs and services from 9 am to 3 pm Monday to Friday, and offers many social and recreational opportunities. The Information and Referral program offers free confidential information and referral to adults ages 55 and older, helping seniors navigate through government systems, fill out applications forms, and access information, services, and resources. Service also offered in Cantonese and Mandarin. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Saturday; phone or email to access service. Funded as a Navigation and Peer Support program by United Way BC (UWBC) Healthy Aging Program. Through Project Plugged-In, offers various online social/recreational programs for adults ages 55 and over such as cooking classes and dance and stretch, as well as an IPhone/IPad class and seniors tech support; funded as an Active Aging Plus program by United Way BC (UWBC) Healthy Aging Program. The South Vancouver Seniors Council explores issues affecting seniors in South Vancouver, and holds monthly information sessions. Check the website for an up-to-date list of programs and services. There is an annual membership fee of $4.
