Service Description

Offers programs and activities to help newcomers develop the skills and knowledge to successfully engage with and participate in the community. Services include one-to-one support and settlement counselling; needs assessment; information and referral to community resources; help with filling out forms; information on health care, legal system, education, employment, finances, housing, and child care; leadership training; workshops; digital literacy support; and opportunities to meet new people. Community Connections programs for women, men, families, seniors, and youth help newcomers foster the skills to successfully participate in their communities, and foster community connections between newcomers and long-term Canadians through programs such as: leadership and learning circles, mentorship programs, men's outreach and support group, a cooking club, volunteer opportunities, family literacy outreach, and an English conversational club. Settlement services are provided in Arabic, Cantonese, Mandarin, Spanish, Vietnamese, Wolof, and English. Child care and bus tickets are available for eligible families. Services are provided under contract to Little Mountain Neighbourhood House (LMNH) Society.
