Service Description

Supports the social and economic integration of newcomers in Vancouver who are not eligible to receive services from federally funded programs. Program serves immigrants, refugees, and refugee claimants in Chinese, English, French, Hindi, Korean, Punjabi, Urdu, and Vietnamese. Also serves Ukrainians under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel program. Immigration and settlement services include orientation, information and referral to community services, assistance navigating immigration and work permit applications, short-term crisis/mental health counselling, and support groups. Labour market services include job market information, connection to job opportunities, employment counselling, help accessing WorkBC and other employment training and bridging programs, assistance with workplace safety or employment standards violations, and education on workplace rights and responsibilities, work safety, and workplace culture. Language services include English conversation groups. For Chinese immigrants, settlement services are offered from 9 am to 4 pm Tuesday to Saturday, and for Korean immigrants from 9 am to 5 pm Monday to Friday. Services for South Asian immigrants who speak Hindi or Punjabi include citizenship classes and a senior women's group at Sunset Community Centre from 12:30 pm to 3 pm Fridays.
