Settlement Workers In Schools (SWIS)

Service Description
Provides settlement services for immigrant and refugee students in New Westminster attending Kindergarten to Grade 12, and their families. Helps students and families adjust and integrate into their community, home, and schools. Services include settlement counselling, information and referral to school and community resources, advocacy and accompaniment services, form completion assistance, conversation circles, educational workshops, and events for newcomers. Services are offered during the school year. Accepts referrals from self or from schools. Services are delivered online, by phone, and email. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
