Settlement Workers in Schools (SWIS) Program

Service Description
Provides settlement services for immigrant and refugee students in Burnaby attending Kindergarten to Grade 12, and their families. Helps immigrant and refugee families adjust and integrate into community and schools. Settlement workers serve newcomers in English and French, but have cultural and language expertise in Arabic, Armenian, Cantonese, Dari, Farsi, Korean, Kurdish, Lingala, Mandarin, Russian, Spanish, Swahili, Tigrinya, and Vietnamese. Office and program hours are 8:30 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
