Service Description

Develops and updates university policies, procedures, and programs to improve accessibility at SFU for students with disabilities. Direct services to students with a documented or suspected disability include assistance with note-taking, access to adaptive technology, support for exam modifications, general advocacy, and disability-related information, support, and counselling. Equipment lab includes computers with access software, scanner, Braille printer, and closed circuit television (CCTV). Provides information about accessible on-campus housing and accessible parking, and works with other departments to ensure appropriate services are in place. Offers the Autism Mentorship Initiative for students with Asperger's or autism. Applicants must supply current documentation at their own expense, and should contact the centre preferably three months prior to the start of a semester. Hours are 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday.
