SFU Clinical Psychology Centre

Provided by: Simon Fraser University (SFU)

Service Description

Assesses and treats psychological and behavioural problems in adults, adolescents, children, couples, and families. Services are provided by graduate students in the Clinical Psychology Program. Student clinicians are supervised by clinical faculty and community associates who are typically registered psychologists. Fees are on a sliding scale based on the service requested and gross family income. Does not offer service to individuals who are in acute crisis, are currently involved in legal proceedings, or who require treatment for substance abuse. Does not take walk-ins; a phone intake screen is required prior to an appointment being booked. Does not offer services to SFU students, staff, faculty, or members of their families due to the potential for dual relationships. Students are instead referred to SFU's Health and Counselling Centre, and staff and faculty are referred to Human Resources for SFU's extended benefits plan. Referring physicians should not fax patient file documents to the clinic unless it has been requested by the CPC. Patients should call the Centre directly to inquire about available services. Referrals are only required for neuropsychological assessments. No access to interpretation service. Daytime and evening appointments are available Monday to Friday.
