Shimai Transitional Housing for Women
Service Description
Provides a 10-space, specialized, low-barrier transitional housing program designed for self-identified women who are seeking support to reduce or eliminate substance use. Services include accompaniment, advocacy, access to a alcohol and drug counselor, emotional support, group support, and information and referral. Length of stay ranges from 30 to 90 days. Women are not required to be abstinent, but must not use alcohol and/or drugs on site. Women on methadone are welcome and staff will dispense carries. Women require ID; transgender women whose ID has not been updated will still be accepted. No pets allowed. Not wheelchair accessible. Funded by BC Housing.
