Service Description

Offers support, guidance, prenatal supplementary care, and pro-choice-oriented counselling to young pregnant and parenting women, and their partners. SMILE for young mothers focuses on pre-natal and birth preparation classes, pregnancy testing, family counselling services, lending library of parenting resources, connection to additional support systems, and midwifery appointments are provided on site. SMILE for young parents helps them learn about the development of life from conception to birth; learning about pregnancy care, pregnancy fitness, nutrition, labour, birth, breastfeeding, and newborn care; learn importance of early childhood education; parenting skills; changing family dynamics and relationships; learn about health care and how to access services; and basic life skills, such as time management, stress management, and budgeting. Accepts self-referrals, third-party referrals, or referred through Ministry of Children and Family Development (MCFD) or other social service and health care professionals.
