Snow Angel Program - Delta

Matches screened volunteers with seniors age 65 and older with a physical disability who are in need of snow removal services for their walkway and/or sidewalk, so that they are clear and safe for use; residents who are age 70 and over with physical limitations receive first priority. Volunteers are deployed after snow has stopped falling with snow accumulations of 5 cm or more; service is based on factors such as number of volunteers. Potential volunteers complete an application form and undergo a criminal records check. Assists those who are unable to receive help from household members, family, friends, neighbours, or professional snow removal companies. Local community groups, schools, or churches may also be able to offer help. Application period is October 18 to November 15; applications received later will be put on a waitlist. Service is subject to volunteer availability; seniors will only be contacted if a Snow Angel becomes available. Recipients must apply every year for the program.
