Spirit Lodge Transition House

Provides safe, secure, temporary shelter and support, primarily for Indigenous women (including transgender women) with or without children, who are fleeing violent relationships or who are at risk of abuse, threats, or violence from a partner. Accepts male children up to age 12; older males are considered on a case-by-case basis. Accepts refugees and refugee claimants, as well as women from out of the province. Length of stay is 30 days. High-barrier sober living house; women must be detoxed 96 hours before admittance with no substance use during stay; will accept women on substitution therapy with appropriate documentation. Delivers services from an Indigenous and holistic perspective. Gives women a safe and supportive living environment with access to daily living requirements such as clothing, toiletries, and nutritious meals. Also provides child care, counselling, and form completion assistance for housing. Offers resource information to enable women to explore their options and define their goals as well as assist with the development of safety plans. Personal identification (ID) is not required. Wheelchair accessible.Cannot accommodate pets, but will arrange for temporary accommodation with community partner. House is located in Vancouver; available on a first-come, first-served basis.
