Service Description

Volunteers provide assistance with the activities of daily living in order to maximize independence for seniors, people with disabilities, and convalescent individuals. Sunshine Coast Meals on Wheels serves nourishing meals to homebound persons; fees are charged. Also provides information on local grocery shopping and delivery services available for seniors who are homebound, people who are disabled, or those who have a chronic illness or are recovering from illness or surgery. Volunteer Drivers provides transportation to medical appointments locally or in Vancouver for those having difficulty with transportation. A minimum of one week's advance notice is required for local trips, one month's advance notice for trips to Vancouver; contact for estimated round trip costs. Telephone Tree service offers a daily phone call, primarily to seniors who live alone. Income Tax Assistance program offered during tax season; low-income seniors can drop off their documents and volunteers complete the return. Office hours are 9 am to 3 pm Tuesday to Friday.
