Temporary Housing Program

Provided by: Seniors Services Society of BC

Service Description

Offers short-stay housing for seniors ages 60 and over of all genders who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Metro Vancouver (excluding the Downtown Eastside). Provides a temporary furnished apartment for up to three months while the senior seeks housing; outreach worker is assigned to provide one-to-one support to assist the senior in obtaining appropriate permanent housing. Strict screening process applies, as apartments are unsupervised and unattended, and units are embedded within regular apartment buildings. Unable to accommodate older adults with pets at this time. Fees are charged for the housing. There is a waitlist; availability is limited and need is high, so priority for available units is based on a case-by-case need. Office hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. Funded by BC Housing and Government of Canada's Reaching Home.
