United Way School's Out Umoja Program

Provided by: Umoja Operation Compassion Society of British Columbia

Service Description

Program activities celebrate the diverse cultural background of newcomer children ages six to 12 while supporting social-emotional well-being and bi-cultural sense of identity, connectedness and relationship development, and the acquisition of skills and healthy behavior. The after-school homework club, 3:15 pm to 4:45 pm Tuesdays and Thursdays, provides an opportunity for English language and additional schoolwork support. A Saturday program, 10 am to 1 pm, supports children to build friendships, connect to their community, and gain life skills. During July and August, a summer day camp includes games, sports, fun activities, crafts, and field trips. Funded as a School's Out Program by United Way BC (UWBC).
