Service Description

Offers free, confidential services to victims of a crime, regardless of whether the crime has been reported, a charge has been laid, or the accused has been convicted. Types of crime can include family violence and sexual assault, criminal harassment, physical violence and threats, property crimes and theft, and impaired driving. Provides crisis support with no appointment; informs victims of their rights, options, and the court process; helps victims develop a safety plan, apply for protective court orders, and prepare Victim Impact Statements and Community Impact Statements; and provides emergency practical support. Also offers third party reporting to adult victims of sexual assault who have made the informed choice not to report to the RCMP; staff report the assault to RCMP on behalf of the victim who remains anonymous. Phone hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday. After-hours help is through VictimLink (1-800-563-0808) or your local RCMP detachment. Serves Dawson City.
