Service Description

Provides vocational rehabilitation counsellors for BC Cancer patients who need assistance with work-related issues or concerns from time of diagnois until 18 months after active treatment has ended. Vocational rehabilitation counselling includes access to appropriate rehabilitation resources for patients, developing return-to-work plans or plans to remain employed during treatment, assistance with clarifying insurance benefits and services, and life planning and goal setting. Rehabilitation counselling includes vocational assessment, resource information and referral, and advocacy. In-person, phone, or virtual counselling offered to patients residing in the Lower Mainland, and phone or virtual consultation available outside of the Lower Mainland. Also provides several work-focused groups including Job Search Seminar (onsite in Vancouver and offered by distance for patients outside of Vancouver), Looking for Work Using Social Media (Vancouver), and Return to Work Group (onsite in Vancouver and offered by distance outside of Vancouver).
