Service Description

Provides a safe, warm place for up to 40 people living outside who can take refuge overnight during extreme weather between 9 pm to 9 am from December 1, 2023 to March 31, 2024; open on a drop-in, first-come, first-serve basis. Warming centre is activated when the temperature reaches or feels like 0°C or below, coupled with adverse weather conditions such as high wind, rain, or snow. Hot drinks and food/snacks will be provided. A storage container is onsite for carts, bikes, and personal belongings during their stay. Registered service animals are allowed pending space availability; call to confirm. Wheelchair accessible. Funded by Emergency Management Cowichan.
