Service Description

Operates BC's Hub for Workplace Mental Health, an online collection of resources and links related to workplace mental health (www.workmentalhealthbc.ca). Also provides a variety of workshops and initiatives designed to create more psychologically healthy workplaces. Awareness of Mental Health at Work is a one to two hour workshop designed to build comfort in talking about mental health and mental illness, and teaches participants how to respond in a supportive way to co-workers who may be experiencing a mental illness. For My Health! Workplace Screening is an interactive health promotion event that empowers participants to learn more about their physical and mental health, set plans and goals for improvement, and track their progress. Mental Health Works helps leaders and supervisors builds skills to respond immediately and appropriately to employees who are showing signs of being unwell. Safe and Sound is a three-hour workshop that provides insight into the components of a psychologically healthy and safe workplace, and includes a review of local policies or regulations. Mental Health Crew Talk workshops are 45-minute sessions where participants learn about the risk and protective factors associated with mental illness, hear a personal story, and learn initial tools to start a conversation with fellow workers who may be showing signs of illness. Understanding Addiction is an online training program delivered in eight lessons for those who work directly or indirectly with people who face challenges with addiction addiction to learn effective, practical skills to increase comfort in having conversations that promote inclusion and healthy communities; to register, visit www.understandingaddiction.ca. Workplace Mental Health Webinars cover a range of workplace mental health strategies and provide practical advice, skills, and tools that can be used to support positive change in the workplace. All workshops are available across BC; fees are charged.
