Amata Transition House provides 24-hour safe shelter and support for women (inclusive of cisgender and transgender women), with or without children, who have experienced, or are at risk of experiencing, violence or abuse, whether physical, mental, emotional, or financial. Will accept male children up to 16 years of age. Not able to accommodate pets. Wheelchair accessible. Funded by BC Housing. Also operates a 24-hour crisis line. Provides outreach services such as information and referral, advocacy, and accompaniment to legal, medical, and government appointments. Support services are also available in person or by phone to non-residents. All services are free. ID is not required. Intake and assessment are conducted at the office. Nonprofit society, registered charity.
