BC Utilities Commission
Independent regulatory agency of the Government of British Columbia that operates under and administers the Utilities Commission Act and the Fuel Price Transparency Act. Responsible for the regulation of BC's natural gas and electricity utilities. Also regulates common carrier pipelines, the electrical grid transmission grid, and universal compulsory automobile insurance. Receives complaints and inquiries about regulated electricity or natural gas utilities and Insurance Corporation of BC's (ICBC) basic automobile insurance rates. Works to resolve complaints about billing; metering and meter reading; application of standard charges and rates; tariff related customer service matters; power quality; maintenance of power lines and equipment; and information requests about service or regulation. Instructions for filing a complaint are available online. Administrative hours are 8 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday.
